Between Change,
Hope and Collapse

About Us

The Research Center Communication for Social Change (C4SC):

The Research Center Communication for Social Change (C4SC) at Leipzig University’s Institute of Communication and Media Studies examines how communication can enable and shape meaningful societal transformation. Its work centers on three main pillars: research, teaching, and knowledge transfer.

Transfer formats and co-creation are fundamental to this approach. By fostering dialogue between researchers and diverse social actors, the center encourages active participation across various community groups. It cultivates inclusive spaces where academic insights and everyday experiences converge to collaboratively address contemporary challenges.

The documentary film Between Change, Hope, and Collapse: Afghanistan’s Media over Two Decades (2001–2021) exemplifies this collaborative co-creation process, having been developed through close cooperation among researchers, journalists, and artists.

Funding by the Volkswagen Foundation:

Additionally, it fosters the communication of science to relevant public audiences and the transfer of scientific findings.
